Search
Search (⌘KCtrl+K, or the magnifier in the toolbar) goes to any scene, chapter, page, character, entry, or plotline by its name, and runs any command by the name the menus give it: Turn On Focus Mode, Book Format, Back to “The Old Road”. What the name answers best comes first.
Empty, it shows where you’ve been, the scenes of the chapter you’re in, and the commands you use most. When nothing at all answers what you typed, it offers to make it: a new scene, character, entry, or plotline by that name.
Find, and Find in Book
Find (⌘FCtrl+F) finds and replaces words in the scene you’re writing, whatever the case, the accents, or the way the quotes curl. ⌘GCtrl+G finds the next one, and ⌘ECtrl+E uses the words you’ve selected.
Find in Book (⇧⌘FCtrl+Shift+F) lists every place the words appear in the book, chapter by chapter, each a line of its paragraph. Choose one to write that scene with the words selected.
Back and Forward
Every move is remembered, as a Mac app keeps its history. Back and Forward in the toolbar (⌥⌘←Alt+← and ⌥⌘→Alt+→) retrace it, naming where they’ll take you. Going back puts the caret and the scroll where you left them.
Lists
Every list in a sidebar keeps the order you give it: drag a row, or press ⌥↑Alt+↑ and ⌥↓Alt+↓. F2F2 renames the row you’re on. ⌘ + [Ctrl + [ and ⌘ + ]Ctrl + ] step through the list a page belongs to, and Escape goes up a level: from a plan to its chapter, from a page to its list.
Every shortcut
Help › Keyboard Shortcuts ( ⌘ + /Ctrl + / ) lists every one, under the menu it’s in. The Docs list the ones worth learning first.
